Awesome. Gorgeous shot.

CLOUDS dream and disappear;
Waters dream in a rainbow and are gone;
Fire-dreams change with the sun
Or when a poppy closes;
But now is the time of year
For the dark earth, one by one,
To show her slower dreams. And nothing she has ever done
Has given more ease
To her perplexities
Than the dreaming of dreams like these:
Not irises,
Not any spear
Of lilies or cup of roses,
But these pale, purple images,
As if, from willows or from pepper trees,
Shadows were glimmering on Buddha's knees.

There came a time when the risk to remain tight in the bud
was more painful than the risk it took to blossom.

With a few flowers in my garden, half a dozen pictures and some books, I live without envy.

Are we, finally, speaking of nature or culture when
we speak of a rose (nature), that has been bred (culture)
so that its blossoms (nature) make men
imagine (culture) the sex of women (nature)?
It may be this sort of confusion that we need more of.

~ Michael Pollan, Second Nature

If there were nothing else to trouble us, the fate of the flowers would make us sad.

If, I can someday see M. Claude Monet's garden, I feel sure that I shall see something that
is not so much a garden of flowers as of colours and tones, less an old-fashioned flower
garden than a colour garden, so to speak, one that achieves an effect not entirely nature's,
because it was planted so that only the flowers with matching colours will bloom at the
same time, harmonized in an infinite stretch of blue or pink.

~ Marcel Proust, "Splendours". Le Figaro, June 15, 1907

In the hope of reaching the moon
men fail to see the flowers
that blossom at their feet.

Mike, if this is your work (or even if it's borrowed), it's a super photo. (If yours, any details on how it was taken, and with what camera?)

Thanks for the compliment! I took the photo a couple of weekends ago, and am quite happy with the results, especially given that I was using a new camera.

You can see a couple more photos taken with it, as well as my thoughts on the camera, here.
