Spider central

CIMG1194.jpg

It's been an arachnaphobe's nightmare in the backyard, with far too many creatures sporting too many legs scuttling about, raising goosebumps most appropriate given the fast-approaching All Hallows Eve.

This garden spider, one of two in residence in the Bailey's Acacia, hides during the day, then emerges at dusk to begin the repairs to the damage done to his web during his absence.

Here you can see the silk, still wet, emerging from the spinnerets as he guides it into place on the framework of the web using his back leg, gliding along the strand as he moves forward and up.

I'd have sent him to his reward long ago, but for the number of mosquitos he's been eating, the only critters I despise more than the arachnids.

When it comes to bugs, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Yikes, I hate spiders! On another topic, when will you write a piece on the gay [homo, fag, queer] republican legislative faction in DC preying on capital page boys? How about that....all that talk about about morality and family values by these guys and behind the scenes (in the rear?) some of them are doing the page boys just like they do the public. I find it all pretty darn funny actually. Though it's not funny that they, like many politicos, blow my tax dollars on playing games and nonsense. Dont ask--don't tell

Chip,

If you want to comment about what I've posted, I'd like to see what you have to say.

If I have something to say about ex-Rep. Foley -- and any other politicos who are deserving of our contempt and opprobrium -- I'll post on it.

In the meantime, please feel free to comment on anything I have posted, instead of what you wish I had posted.
