Hummingbird tales: What's for brunch?

In the last 24 hours the chicks seem to have begun swapping their lizard-like scales for the beginnings of feathers. The mostly-black beaks are continuing to grow longer and thinner, morphing into a needle-like probe, good for reaching the nectar in the farthest recesses of the local blooms.
